Maryland Schools are prohibiting any school staff from telling a student’s parents that their child is changing genders. Stating that since 2015 Maryland state education Department says that no federal or state law requires the school to notify parents of the such information.

If a teacher is told by a student that they are transitioning and have a desire to change genders, and that their parents do not know, should ask, “What pronouns would you like me to use when communicating with your parents?”

This is concealing information from the parents of the child and thus possibly keeping medical treatments from the parents of an underage child/minor.

Parents in Maryland should contact the Maryland State Department of Education and their local school board to get clarification on the policies for their local schools.
